Ceramic Silicon Nitride (Si3N4) Introduction

Ceramic Silicon Nitride (Si3N4) Introduction

  • 2020/08/27

Silicon nitride is very strong, especially hot-pressed silicon nitride, which is one of the hardest materials in the world. It has high strength, low density, high temperature resistance and other properties.

It is extremely resistant to high temperatures, and its strength can be maintained to a high temperature of 1200°C without falling. It will not melt into a melt after being heated, and will not decompose until 1900°C. It has amazing chemical resistance and can withstand almost all inorganic acids. And caustic soda solution below 30%, it can also resist the corrosion of many organic acids; at the same time it is a high-performance electrical insulating material.

The Feature of Silicon nitride (Si3N4):

1.Wear resistance

2.High temperature resistance in the air at 1200℃

3.Good thermal shock resistance, extremely cold and extremely hot without bursting.

4.Low coefficient of thermal expansion.

5.The hardness can reach above HV1300.

6.Resistant to acid and alkali corrosion, in addition to HF acid and concentrated nitric acid

What is Silicon Nitride Used for?
Si3N4 ceramic can produce to be a  ball bearing , it is  light weight and high rigidity. It has higher precision than metal bearings, generates less heat, and can operate in higher temperatures and corrosive media. The steam nozzle made of Si3N4 ceramics has the characteristics of wear resistance and heat resistance. It will not be damaged obviously after being used in a 650℃ boiler for a few months, while other heat and corrosion resistant alloy steel nozzles can only be used for 1-2 months under the same conditions.

ZZ BEARINGS can produce Si3N4 full ceramic bearings for high temperatures,we also can produce Silicon Nitride Ceramic Si3N4 Bearing Balls, for more information ,pls contact with us at info@bearings-factory.com .
